Estimating with Bidlight: A Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Create a New Project




To start, click add project (01) Choose your project type—Revit or IFC. Enter the project title and number






Fill in the project details, including an optional description and image. You can assign the project to team members and designate if it's a parent project.

Setting up your project in Bidlight is quick and easy, ensuring your team is aligned from the beginning. Start with a strong foundation by organizing all critical project information in one place.


Step 2: Track Your Project with the Kanban Board




BidLight offers a comprehensive kanban board for efficient project tracking. Locate your project and use the drag-and-drop feature to move it to the appropriate milestone.


Step 3: Track Project Adjustments


 


BidLight makes it easy to manage design changes. Simply turn on start tracking project (02) and the plugin will automatically track your adjustments.




 


Enable tracking, make adjustments, and export all Revit elements. After adjustments, hit the project export (03) button. The desktop app will open and hit export (04) to load your data in the app.






Then select edit parameter collection (05) and from preferred export filtering parameters in export configuration, Confirm by selecting your project from the dropdown (06).


Step 4: Estimate Your Project






Launch the app and locate your project in the catalogue.

1. Select the Estimate (07) option to proceed

2. Choose Estimation Type:

- Express Estimation: Obtain quick estimates in seconds using default parameters.

- Custom Estimation (08): Customize your estimate by selecting: Location, Currency, Unit, Tolerance, Labor Type, Project Type, Start and End Dates.

- Load Estimations: Import estimates from previous projects as needed.

You will get detailed estimates (09) by components. Select any component from the list or 3D view to highlight it (10). Adjust unit prices as necessary (11). Click export estimation (12) to generate an Excel sheet with all the project details and estimates.
